Rinaldo Rinaldi, student of neoclassical sculptor Antonio Canova, died on this day in Rome in 1873. Works include the relief decoration on the Villa Torlonia pediment, a fantastic temporary grotto designed by Giuseppe Jappelli for the park of Cittadella-Vigodarzere near Padua, and a number of neoclassical sculptures and monuments. He was a member of various art academies, including the Accademia di San Luca in Rome, the Accademia di Belli Arti in Venice, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia.
