SUMMARY:Andrew Ladis Memorial Trecento Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Andrew Ladis Memorial Trecento Conference is held bienni
 ally in honor of the art historian Andrew Ladis (1949–2007)\, an autho
 rity on Taddeo Gaddi and Giotto and an inspiring teacher. The conference
 —the only gathering of its kind—emphasizes trecento Italian art as a
  fruitful area of research and offers participants the opportunity to ex
 change ideas formally and informally in a collegial environment. The nex
 t conference will be held NOVEMBER 11–13\, 2021 at the Frist Art Museu
 m and Vanderbilt University in Nashville\, Tennessee. Dr. Susan L’Engl
 e\, professor emerita and former assistant director of the Vatican Film 
 Library at Saint Louis University\, will be the keynote speaker. Approxi
 mately twenty-four other scholars will be selected to present papers\, w
 hich will be published by Brepols. There will be an opening reception on
  November 11\, 2021\, and meals will be provided for all attendees on No
 vember 12 and 13. Guided visits will be offered Medieval Bologna: Art fo
 r a University at the Frist and The Artist’s Workshop in Medieval and 
 Renaissance Europe at the Vanderbilt University Fine Arts Gallery.&nbsp\
 ;\n\n\n\nIf the event cannot be held in person because of COVID-19\, the
  conference will take place virtually on the same dates.&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nR
 egistration and Costs\n\n\n\nConference registration will open in early 
 summer 2021. There will be no conference fees\, but participants must se
 cure their own transportation and lodging. Discounted rates will be avai
 lable at nearby hotels. A $1\,000 scholarship will be offered to one par
 ticipating Italian scholar traveling from Italy\; limited additional tra
 vel funds may be available for other scholars.\n\n\n\nOrganizing Committ
