SUMMARY:Conference on Trecento Art in Memory of Andrew Ladis
DESCRIPTION:The Georgia Museum of Art and the University of Georgia join
tly sponsored this symposium addressing the impact of\, artistic exchang
e within\, or presumed hegemony of Italian art within the Mediterranean
basin\, ca. 1260–1453.\n\n\nTrecento Art in Memory of Andrew Ladis\nFo
r nearly two decades\, the Georgia Museum of Art and the University of G
eorgia have jointly sponsored symposia on Italian art. In 2010\, to hono
r the memory of Andrew Ladis (1949–2007)\, we are returning to the ser
ies’ original concept: the art of the fourteenth century. The fourteen
th century we have in mind is a long one\, from roughly 1260 through 145
 3.  Rather than focusing on a single city\, style\, medium\, or artist\
, the conference will consider a range of topics relevant to art produce
d in Italy and the Mediterranean basin during this long fourteenth centu
ry. The conference will meet in Athens\, Georgia on the campus of the Un
iversity of Georgia\, opening with an evening session on Thursday\, Nove
mber 11\, 2010\, and continuing across Friday and Saturday\, November 12
and 13\, 2010.\nThe lectures are free and open to the public\; all are
welcome.  Hotel rooms are available at the Georgia Center: 1-800-884-13
 81.  Tell them you are here for the “trecento” conference.\nThursda
