Happy Anniversary to the IAS! On this day in 1987, the Italian Art Society sponsored its first session at the International Congress on Medieval Art at Kalamazoo. The idea for a society dedicated to the study of Italian Art was born the previous year after an enthusiastic response to two sessions organized by Anne Derbes and Julia Miller. From its small beginnings with one session in 1987, the IAS now hosts multiple sessions at six international conferences and has an international membership of over 330 students, scholars, and arts professionals.
