On this day in 1836, Tuscan artist Adriano Cecioni was born in Fontebuona in Vaglia just north of Florence. Part of the macchiaioli group, Cecioni studied and worked in Florence, Naples, Paris, and London, where he was employed as a caricaturist for Vanity Fair. He died in Florence at the age of 49.
