On 16 July 1903, Italian modernist Adalberto Libera was born in the northern town of Villa Lagarina. Trained in Parma and Rome, Libera was associated with the Futurist movement and the development of modernist architecture as a founder of M.I.A.R (Movimento Italiano per l’Architettura Razionale). Among his best known buildings are the Palazzo dei Congressi in EUR, Rome and the Casa Malaparte on Capri.
