Buona Festa del tricolore! 7 January is the anniversary of the Italian flag, known as the tricolore (tricolor) for its three bands of green, white, and red. Adopted in 1797 by the Cispadane Republic in northern Italy, the flag went through several iterations before arriving at its current form on 19 June 1946.
