Through the generosity of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, the IAS is currently offering a travel grant to attend the annual IAS/Kress Lecture. This year’s lecture will be held June 30 in Cortona, where Dr. Francesca Fiorani will present “Leonardo da Vinci and Cortona. Wetlands, Mapping, and the Art of Painting in Renaissance Italy.” These lectures provide vital networking opportunities which are often crucial at the beginning of one’s scholarly career. While not enough to fully cover all travel costs, this $500 grant will provide an important incentive for a highly motivated scholar that could be supplemented with other forms of institutional support and self-funding. Applications for this award will be vetted by the IAS Awards Committee on the basis of need and the relevance of the lecture topic to the applicant’s own ongoing research.

Applicants must be members of the Italian Art Society at the time of application and receipt of the award and must not have received an IAS award in the previous two years. Applications should include a cover letter that clearly addresses the relevance of this lecture to their research, a CV, a brief estimated budget and information on any other funding, and should be submitted here. The application deadline is May 15, 2022.

Please email Dr. Jasmine Cloud, Chair of the IAS Awards Committee, at awards@italianartsociety.org if you have any questions
