Italian Art Society Book Prize

In support of scholarship on Italian art and architecture, the IAS is proud to offer an annual book prize, awarded by the organization, for the year’s best book in Italianist art history. Books will be juried by an anonymous premi committee of senior scholars, whose membership will change annually. 

Deadline: April 1, 2025

Eligibility: Monographs (single-authored books, in Italian or English) with a publication date of 2024 are eligible. IAS membership is required for both the year of application (2025) and award (2026). Exhibition catalogues and edited volumes are not eligible. 

To apply: Submit 1) a 1-page cover letter that briefly introduces the project and its contributions to Italianist art history, and 2) a pdf of the book, to IAS President Antje Gamble (president@italianartsociety.org) and Executive Vice President Kelli Wood (vicepresident@italianartsociety.org) by the deadline. 

Award timeline: The prize winner will be announced at the annual business meeting at CAA 2026
