Jean Marie Carey

Jean Marie Carey joined the IASblog as a Staff Writer in July 2016 and became the IASblog editor in 2018. She was also the technology manager for the Italian Art Society. Jean Marie graduated with a PhD in Art History and German from the University of Otago in New Zealand in 2018 and has been a visiting scholar at the Robert Gore Rifkind Center for the Study of German Expressionism at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Universität Kassel, and Musée national d'art moderne - Bibliothèque Kandinsky - Centre Pompidou. She investigates the legacy of the historical avant-garde in contemporary representations of animals. Jean Marie is working on her book project, How Franz Marc Returns, and is the founder of the blog German Modernism.
