Plautilla, one of the less fortunate Roman empresses.
Political scheming united her in marriage to co-emperor Caracalla in A.D. 202. Nine years later, upon assuming full power, the murder-prone tyrant had her, their daughter, and his own brother dispatched by assassins. Caracalla met the same fate six years later. In art, you can identify him by his trademark scowl.
