In the October issue of The Burlington Magazine, Artur Rosenauer publishes The Risen Christ as a new work by the Venetian artist Titian. The oil on canvas shows the resurrected Christ standing over his tomb on Easter morning. Rosenauer, Emeritus Professor at the University of Vienna, places the painting early in Titian’s career around 1511 and suggests that it was painted for a confraternity.
