Cristina Ruiz reports in the Art Newspaper on continuing issues for the legacy of artist Giorgio De Chirico. A German collector bought Le Muse Inquietanti at Sotheby’s London for £398,500 but now refuses to pay as doubts have arisen over its authenticity. In addition to forgers creating “De Chiricos,” the artist himself may have backdated his own paintings to increase their value.
