From Florence to Florence

Italian Bronze Masterpieces on exhibit in Florence, Texas through 1 May 2014. Fifty classical, Renaissance, and modern Italian bronzes will be on display at the Vineyard at Florence, 35 minutes north of Austin. Made by the Fonderia Artistica Ferdinando Marinelli (FAFM), the bronzes were cast from originals in various museums and public spaces with the permission of the Superintendent of the Ministry of Culture in Florence, Italy. To-scale replicas include copies of Giambologna’s Neptune; Cellini’s Mercury; an Etruscan Minerva; and the famous She-wolf, now thought to be a medieval rather than ancient sculpture.

The exhibition is free and open to the public Sunday through Thursday, 11AM-6PM and Friday and Saturday, 11AM-7PM.
