This tiny panel illustrates a dream had by Saint Dominic, in which the Virgin presents both Dominic and Saint Francis to Christ. The following day in a Roman church, when Dominic saw the humble friar, he immediately recognized Francis from his dream. Dominic greeted Francis warmly saying, “Thou art my companion, thou shalt run with me step for step!” Currently on view in Gallery 2.
