Piero Fornasetti died on 9 October 1988. After clashing with his traditional teachers at the Brera Academy in Milan, Fornasetti turned more towards design, working in numerous media. A prolific artist, many of Fornasetti’s designs incorporated the face of soprano Lina Cavalieri, whom he had seen in a magazine.
