In an exceptional event, the only known self-portrait by Leonardo da Vinci is on display at the Capitoline Museums in Rome. Drawn with red chalk in 1515, this rare masterpiece is hardly ever exhibited to the public as it is normally housed in the Royal Library of Turin. This exhibition is the result of the latest conservation tests performed by the scientific laboratory ICRCPAL (Central Institute for Restoration and Conservation of the Papers and Books of Rome). The show, open until August 3rd, will also present twelve other works by Leonardo alongside the enigmatic and fascinating self-portrait.
