Lost Art: Masterpieces Destroyed in War: check this amazing photo archive on Flickr!
The Clark Photograph and Clippings Archive is a rich resource containing close to a million images that were used to teach and study art in the first part of the 20th century. Today high resolution digital images are available for many of the works in the collection, limiting the collection’s utility to scholars and students. There is a small subset of images in the photos and clippings files, however, that represent the only remaining documentation of important works of art—art that was destroyed before high quality color photography became the standard for documenting art. The Lost Art Project draws on the photograph and clipping collection to highlight these important works that are no longer extant.
