Jennifer S. Griffiths, winner of a 2015 IAS Travel Grant, used her award to present her paper, “Savage Beauty: A Futurist Legacy of Self-Design” at the 103rd Annual Conference of the College Art Association (CAA) in 2015. The grant allowed her to travel from Rome to New York to speak on a panel dedicated to Fashion and the Contemporary Avant-Garde. She has yet to publish the paper, but sees it as a a first step towards a larger body of research on Futurist influences in contemporary fashion. She is currently preparing a series of critical essays on women futurist artists and teaches at The American University of Rome and Iowa State College of Design.

The opportunity to compete for travel grants is just one of many benefits available to members of the Italian Art Society. Join us today! The 2015 competition for IAS Travel Grants has closed. The 2016 competition will open next summer. Visit our website for more information.
