Renaissance Specialist to Run Prado Museum
News outlets in Spain are reporting that Miguel Falomir, a specialist in Italian Renaissance art, is on the verge of being appointed as the director of the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid. Falomir has served as both curator and deputy director with the prestigious institution.
Falomir’s relationship with the Prado began in 1997. During his tenure, he has lent his expertise to important exhibitions on many Italian masters, including shows featuring the works of Tintoretto (2000) and Titian (2003).
Though the vote was unanimous in support of Falomir’s appointment, the final approval will come with a vote by the museum’s trustees in March.
