Coming Next Week: Eighth Annual IAS/Kress Lecture at the University of Bologna
The Eighth Annual IAS/Kress Lecture in Italy will be delivered by Professor Babette Bohn (Texas Christian University). The lecture will take place on 7 June 2017, in the Aula Magna of the former monastery of Santa Cristina that now houses the Department of the Arts – Alma Mater Studiorum, University of Bologna.
Professor Bohn’s talk is titled “Il ‘fenomeno bolognese’ rivisto: donne artiste a Bologna fra quattrocento e settecento,” and will explore the distinctive social and intellectual conditions that made early modern Bologna uniquely receptive to women artists. The lecture will be delivered in Italian, is free and open to the public, and will be followed by a reception.
